10 Natural Ways to Prevent Aging

Before you consider the extremes of botox and other plastic surgery methods - research the natural methods and things you can do to look great. There are several natural ways to prevent aging that anyone can do that are relatively easy. Here are ten ways to keep looking young.

Eat Nuts

Nuts are the perfect snack food and are filled with anti-aging fats, vitamins and minerals. They are also great for suppressing appetite.

Trade Coffee for Cocoa

In a study published in the Journal of Nutrition, researchers found cocoa containing high levels of two dietary flavanols (epicatchin and catechin) protected from sun damage, improved circulation to skin cells, affected hydration and made the skin look and feel smoother.


Don't Over Wash Your Face

According to dermatologists at the University of Maryland Medical Center, tap water strips skin of its natural barrier oils and moisture that protects against wrinkles. Wash them off too often and you wash away protection. Moreoever, unless your soap contains moisturizers, you should use a cleanser instead.

Exercise

As you get older your chances of getting senile sarcopenia increase; which is the result of a loss of muscle mass due to the death of motor neurons that control muscle fibers. An individuals' posture is affected and their skin sags due to the muscle fibers not being used. Symptoms can be reduced and reversed with weight training and staying active.


Antioxidants

Incorporate antioxidants into your diet. Many antioxidants have anti-inflammatory properties that protect and benefit your skin. Polyphenols, found in many antioxidants, can be found in green tea, cocoa and dark chocolate. These polyphenols will also help to naturally cleanse the body of unnecessary toxins.

De-Stress

Stress can wreck havoc on your body. Many doctors have linked stress to high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and skin inflammation. Stress has also been shown to suppress your immune system; making us more prone to illness and disease.

Don't Neglect Your Ears

Start with 10 ml of olive oil, then mix two drops of these oils: carrot seed to boost elasticity, frankincense to restore skin tone, or lavender to calm redness. Massage it for 30 seconds, then rinse with warm water.
